Pura Vida!

Pura Vida! that's what anyone and everyone says here in Costa Rica. They say it in response to a hello or a goodbye or just when you're passing by on the street or when as a thank you. haha it's pretty cool. It translates to "Pure Life" and basically describes the attitude and lifestyle of a tico.

Life here is good. This morning I did my own laundry (haha they make us do our own underwear since its personal) and let's just say the laundry machines are a little different here. First, I had to wash the underwear by hand in a bucket of water and detergent. Then you put them in this confriger thing for one minutes which spins all the water out. then you just hang them up outside and let them dry haha. They don't have dryers here.

I met my Companero (partner) yesterday. We were each given a speaking partner from the Costa Rica College in town who are learning english and we're supposed to help each other learn the other language. His name is Reiner and he is super nice and energetic haha. He loves to talk. And he is really good at English but says some funny phrases and messes up a few times and it makes me laugh haha. And he helps me with my spanish I already learned some frases that will be helpful and we're meeting again on thursday. He seems pretty cool like he might be a good way to meet some more ticos so I can make some friends and really learn the language and hangout with other people besides the americans.

besides that, classes are good, the food is good, the beach is good, and puntarenas overall is good.

pura vida my friends :)

  1. Ha, laundry sucks here to. We don't have to do our own luckily but there are no dryers! So it takes forever and is hard when we get it back.
